1 Year Commitment Title: Nonviolence AmeriCorps Team Member Reports to: AmeriCorps Program Manager Basic Function: The Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence (ISPN) seeks to teach by word and example the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. ISPN has helped to significantly lower violence in the City of Providence and other cities in the state, while assisting increasing the services being offered to victims of violence throughout the State of Rhode Island.  


Progress made: Zero gang homicides in 2016!

Providence shootings, homicides continue to decline. Both categories continued to drop in 2016, and the city did not see a single gang-related homicide, a trend attributed to improved community policing.
